THE CASES OF EDDIE DRAKE
March 6, 1952 thru May 29, 1952
The Cases Of Eddie Drake is a filmed half-hour detective series, that ran for 13 episodes in 1952. Nine of those episodes were originally produced in 1949 by CBS but never aired on that network. The DuMont Network bought the nine filmed episodes and produced four more episodes in 1952.
Eddie Drake was your typical hardboiled PI of the time, from his attitude to his roving eye for anything in a skirt. Eddie shared the details of his cases with beautiful Dr. Karen Gayle, perhaps televisionÍs first psychologist. She was writing a book about criminal behavior and wanted the point of view of a hardboiled PI. After nine episodes, Dr. Joan Wright replaced Dr. Gayle.
The series stars Don Haggerty as Eddie Drake, a private eye from New York, and (in the DuMont episodes) Patricia Morison as Karen, his assistant.
