The Grand Opening of Walt Disney World is a musical television special celebrating and highlighting the opening ceremonies of the Walt Disney World Resort. It aired on NBC on October 29, 1971.

 

The special opens with Glenn Campbell performing "Today is Mine".

Julie Andrews sings "When You Wish Upon a Star" while she goes inside a theater playing clips from Walt Disney's animated classics. This is followed by Andrews singing "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah" with the Kids of the Kingdom and some Disney characters accompanying her.
An ongoing storyline starring Jonathan Winters where he tries to help his shell-shocked wife let loose and relax, culminating in her running off after a disasterous game of "William Tell".

Bob Hope dedicates the Contemporary Hotel with his comedy stylings and the Polynesian Resort hosts its inaugural luau.

A sneak peek at three Florida-exclusive attractions: The Hall of Presidents, Country Bear Jamboree and The Mickey Mouse Revue.

Buddy Hackett drives Herbie through the Grand Prix Raceway.
Julie Andrews sings "It's a Small World" while walking through Fantasyland with an international group of children.

The grand opening parade with Meredith Wilson leading a 1,096-piece marching band through Main Street, U.S.A.

A large chorus gathers around Cinderella Castle and sings "When You Wish Upon a Star" while balloons are released into the air.
