A sing and dance evening with the American Ballroom Theater performance of a series of dances to songs written especially for Astaire, filmed in black and white to capture the feeling of a 1930s movie. Following this, Tommy Tune appears on stage singing and dancing to Jerry Herman's "Tap your Troubles Away," accompanied by The Manhattan Rhythm Kings. Next, Tune sings a few of the thirty-three songs written by Astaire, including "There's No Time Like the Present" and "City of the Angels," after which he is joined by The Manhattan Rhythm Kings in "The Afterbeat" and "Tappin' the Time." The program closes with the Boston Pops Orchestra playing a medley of songs by Jule Styne consisting of "Together Wherever We Go," "Just in Time," "Make Someone Happy," "The Party's Over," "Let Me Entertain You," and "People."
