Broadway musical leading man Ron Husmann is the author, narrator and co-producer of the series. He takes us on a fascinating trip from the early vaudevillle, minstrel shows and operettas of the late 19th century, through the development if the true American musical art form that began during World War I, to the concept musicals and visual extravaganzas that culminated in such recent productions as "Phantom of the Opera", "Les Miserables" and "Into the Woods".

Volume I covers 1866 through 1927. Volume II spans 1928 through 1949, Volume II goes from the late 40's through the late 50's. Volume IV takes us from the early to the mid 60's and Volume V moves from the late 60's to 1988.
