RANGE WARFARE - 1934 - REB RUSSELL - RARE DVD
$ 6.00
Six foot one, two hundred pound Lafayette “Reb” Russell was an all-star football running back for the University of Nebraska in 1928, and then a fullback for the Northwestern University Wildcats in 1930 and 1931. In 1932 he was given a small part in a movie as a football player before joining the 1933 Philadelphia Eagles football team. After seven games with the Eagles he was traded to the New York Giants where he ran for 68 yards in three games. Not finding fame and fortune on the NFL football field, he headed for Hollywood.
Back in Hollywood, he became a “B” movie cowboy, making several adventures like this one. After making a total of twelve motion pictures, and touring the west in a wild west show, he retired to ranching near Coffeyville, Kansas. On his ranch he experimented with high-yield agriculture, often lecturing on a modern approach to farming. In 1964 he ran as a Democrat for Congress but lost to the incumbent and remained on his farm until his death in 1978.
In this adventure he is a U.S. Marshal heading to a small town in search of cattle rustlers. He doesn’t even get to the town before he is ambushed by an outlaw that he put in prison a few years earlier. Avoiding death seems to be his best talent as he discovers that nearly everyone around him wants to kill him. Pop a big bowl of white kernel popcorn with plenty of warm melted butter drizzled over it and enjoy the show
