8/8/65: Merv’s guests are Carol Channing, President Kennedy’s secretary Evelyn Lincoln, and George Frasier. This episode was recorded a few days before Carol’s last appearance in Hello Dolly on Broadway.  She was headed off to San Diego to start the national tour. Merv’s show was taped at the Little Theatre (now The Helen Hayes Theatre) which was right next door to the St. James Theatre where Dolly was playing.  They put a camera out on 44th Street, and we see Carol walk from the St. James to the Little Theatre.  (She initially boards a cart, loaded with luggage, but gets off of it for some reason and walks instead).  Carol and Merv sing “Bye Bye Baby”.  In black and white.  1 hour.

Also included on the disc: The Merv Griffin Show, 4/21/66 with MINIE PEARL & BETTY WHITE
