HONEST IN THE RAIN - US STEEL HOUR - 1956 - DVD

Well, this certainly is a surprise. Ethel sings not a note. This is a very serious dramatic role and she is very touching in this original play as a gambling, engaged woman who is secretly addicted to playing the horses. As it used to be in "The Golden Age Of Television", It was performed live. In one scene, in her bosses office, you can see a stage hand behind her. He`s wearing a headset and squats down to fix something on the set, he becomes aware of this and looks surprised. I was surprised also with Miss Merman`s moving performance.
