HOWARD KEEL: Bell Telephone Hour 1959-1965 (DVD) - ANN BLYTH - SALLY ANNE HOWES
$ 19.00
With special guests Ann Blyth, Martha Wright and Sally Ann Howes.
The ruggedly handsome actor and singer Howard Keel (1919-2004) began his Broadway stage career with leading roles in not one but two musicals concurrently: Oklahoma! and Carousel (as understudy for John Raitt). On occasion, he performed the unprecedented feat of playing both roles in a single day! In Hollywood, Keel starred in a slew of legendary musical films, including Annie Get Your Gun, Kiss Me, Kate, Calamity Jane, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Rose Marie, and Kismet.
Though Keel was a frequent guest on television series and variety shows in the 1950s and '60s, his earlier work was all but eclipsed by the fame he achieved later in life, playing the proud and fiery oil baron Clayton Farlow in the enormously popular Dallas (1981-1991). For millions of his younger fans, this collection of performances from the Bell Telephone Hour will reveal another side of Keel's great talent, as he delivers unforgettable renditions of songs from many of the musicals with which he was associated.
